Allergen compliance

EU 1169/2011 compliance built in — protect your guests and your business.

How it works

EU Regulation 1169/2011 requires restaurants to declare 14 allergens for every dish. Non-compliance carries significant fines — and more importantly, it puts vulnerable guests at risk. Zentable embeds allergen tagging into the item builder so compliance is a byproduct of building your menu, not a separate chore.

Guests can filter the QR menu by the allergens they need to avoid — dishes that contain their allergens are hidden or highlighted in red. Staff can check allergen information for any item directly from the orders screen. When you update a recipe, updating the allergen tag updates every place that information appears instantly.

Business benefits

Legal compliance by default

Tagging allergens during menu setup satisfies EU 1169/2011 disclosure requirements.

Guest-facing allergen filter

Guests filter the menu by their restrictions — they only see what they can eat.

Reduce liability

Documented allergen information protects you if a guest claims they weren't warned.

Single point of truth

Change a recipe's allergens once — the guest menu and staff view update together.

Step by step

2
Allergens appear on the guest menu

Icons next to each dish show which allergens are present at a glance.

3
